Frequently Asked Questions
. What type of screenplays do you sell?
We sell screenplays that have been produced and some that are unreleased (never made). We do not sell scripts in development. The scripts are all photocopies of the original draft we stock. All screenplays we sell are for educational purposes only. No rights are given or implied.
How are the screenplays bound?
All screenplays are bound to US standards. They are printed on white US letter paper (216mm x 279mm), bound with two fasteners. We use a 250gsm card stock covers on all screenplays.
How do I present my screenplay in US standards? The US has a peculiar non-metric requirement, which poses a significant barrier to people outside the United States who wish to market their work into the US film industry. The standard US screenplay presentation is as follows:
1) White, US Letter size paper (216mm x 279mm) with 3 holes; 2) White, 250gsm card stock covers with 3 holes; 3) Acco Brass Fasteners or Chicago Screw and Post Fasteners in top and bottom holes; and 4) Acco Brass Washers (which are optional) and help improve the overall quality of the presentation of your screenplays.
These products are available through our website here.
What is the quality of each screenplay?
We stock many screenplays that were originally written a number of decades ago, therefore the quality may vary. Most are in pristine condition but some may have a few minor flaws. The type may break up in areas or may be faded a little. However all screenplays are still legible and we believe you will be happy with the quality of the titles.
What drafts do you sell?
The drafts we sell vary from first draft through to the shooting script. It simply depends on availability. Every screenplay is different. We try to get the closest version to the movie however, we do not sell transcripts. So sometimes there may be scenes that have changed or have been deleted from the final movie.
What is the difference between a first draft, writer’s draft, final draft and the shooting script, etc?
A writer's draft is considered the draft that was sold prior to any changes by the buyer or other early drafts by the writer. A writer's draft is not usually marked "writer's draft" but just date stamped. Pursuant to the purchase of a screenplay, the writer may be asked to make a number of changes. These become first, second and third drafts, etc. and sometimes contain major changes in narration and character. The shooting script is the screenplay that is used during a shoot. After the final draft is written with all changes made final, it becomes a locked script. Scene numbers are then added and/or delete. All changes are documented. Shooting scripts also contain camera angles and directing terms.
Why do you sell earlier/different drafts that are not identical to the released movie?
As mentioned above, we do not sell transcripts. Since our customers are predominately writers, it is advantageous for writers to read what the screenwriter originally wrote, what was changed, and figure out why.
Can I get the screenplay exactly like the released movie?
As we do not sell transcripts, we cannot guarantee that the screenplay is identical to the movie. The majority of the time they aren’t. What if a screenplay I am after is not listed on your website?
If we do not have a screenplay listed on our website, email us at info@cinemarket.com.au and we will endeavour to source it on your behalf.
Do you have stage plays?
At this time we do not carry stage plays.
What are the storyboards that you sell?
Storyboards are visual images of the screenplay; something the Director has done for visualising shots and angles. They are mainly interesting to an aspiring Director.
Do you have a catalog of your screenplays?
Please find a .pdf copy of our screenplays on our homepage.
